Organization Phase Guide
Use the Organization Phase to make the army ready before choosing an enemy stronghold. The priority is a legal, usable squad—then growth and shopping.

Pre-Attack Checklist
- Choose the leaders who will fight. A defeated leader forces that leader's whole squad to retreat, so do not treat the commander as a disposable unit.
- Build legal squads. Check the five-monster cap and the leader's command-cost capacity. See the squad composition guide.
- Give each squad a job. Mix attack, defense, recovery, or support roles rather than filling every slot with the same function.
- Check growth options. Official systems include Class Change, stronghold upgrades, hiring leaders and monsters, and equipment from the Traveling Merchant.
- Use idle leaders. Leaders who skip the coming battle can go on Explorations for resources, money, or experience.
- Only then select the target stronghold. The Attack Phase commits your plan; use the Organization Phase to prevent avoidable roster problems first.
What Each Organization Tool Solves
| Squad formation | Places up to five monsters under a leader while respecting command cost. |
|---|---|
| Class Change | Changes eligible leaders or monsters after they reach a certain level. The exact requirement is not yet published in the official system text. |
| Stronghold upgrade | Consumes materials to improve a controlled stronghold and provide unit benefits. |
| Exploration | Uses non-deployed leaders to seek resources, money, and experience. |
| Hiring | Adds leaders and monsters at strongholds. |
| Traveling Merchant | Buys and sells weapons and armor when available. |
If the Army Still Feels Weak
- Remove a costly monster if it prevents the rest of the squad from filling useful roles.
- Protect the leader instead of evaluating only raw monster strength; leader defeat retreats the squad.
- Use a non-combat turn for Exploration or stronghold investment rather than forcing an invasion with an unfinished roster.
- Read the Support guide before merging a useful battle unit into the leader.
Planning ruleA full five-monster roster is not automatically better. Command cost and battlefield roles are separate constraints, so a smaller squad can be the legal or more coherent choice.
What Is Not Yet Documented
