Leader Decision

Support System Guide

Support is not a free passive bonus. It moves one monster's support trait onto the leader while that monster temporarily stops acting as a separate battle unit.

How Support Works

  1. Select the Support command for the leader and one monster in that squad.
  2. The monster joins with the leader and grants its support ability to that leader.
  3. The monster temporarily no longer acts as an independent battle unit.
  4. Re-evaluate formation and action economy: the leader is stronger in one dimension, but the squad has one fewer separate body on the grid.

Confirmed Official Examples

UnicornAdjacent allied units recover 5% at the start of the turn in the cited producer example.
Ash WolfThe leader can continue moving after acting if movement remains.
DragonImproves movement. The producer letter emphasizes timing because the Dragon is temporarily absent as a combat unit.

Other official system copy gives additional examples, but this page uses the producer-letter cases to explain a decision rather than presenting an incomplete monster database.

When Support Is Worth It

Mobility bottleneckThe leader cannot reach a safe or useful hex without a movement benefit.
Formation sustainA healing or defensive trait benefits several nearby allies across multiple turns.
Leader-centered objectiveThe mission demands keeping the leader active, mobile, or in a particular position.
Low monster opportunity costThe chosen monster's separate attack, blocking position, and target coverage are less valuable than the new leader trait.

When to Delay or Undo the Plan

Decision testAsk one question before confirming: “What exact action or position becomes possible because of this Support?” If there is no concrete answer, keep the monster active.

What Is Not Yet Confirmed

UnverifiedThe cited official pages do not provide every monster's Support ability, duration rules for every situation, stacking rules, or a complete ranking. Those require official documentation or repeatable released-game tests.
